Plugins

NoteMagician’s main user interface is actually just a shell that provides basic menus and toolbars, and supports item organization through the Folder Pane, and item lists through the List Pane. The remaining user interface area (usually in the lower right of the main NoteMagician window) is for use by various add-on pieces of software called Plugins. Each plugin can handle a different type of information and uses the Item Pane to allow you to enter, view and modify that information. For example, the Note plugin handles flexible, formatted word-processed notes. This plugin architecture allows for the expansion of the capabilities of NoteMagician by third parties.

Each plugin will usually have its own special plugin toolbar (located under the main toolbar), as well as make additions to the NoteMagician Menu Bar when an item of its type is displayed in the Item Pane. NoteMagician comes bundled with the following plugins:

PLUGIN

DESCRIPTION

Allows you to create/modify custom form templates that can be used for structured data storage. Once a template is created, you can then create items based on that template. For example, you can make a template that looks like an invoice, then create invoices by choosing to make new “invoice” items.

Creates formatted notes, which may include most of the common word processing features. In addition, hyperlinks to audio, images and other NoteMagician items can be placed in the notes. This plugin also allows you to record your own audio files and embed them in notes.

Web items are essentially URL’s that can be browsed with the built-in Internet Explorer browser. The main purpose for this plugin is that NoteMagician’s “Find” can actually load these web pages in the background and include the pages’ text in the search for a target string.
