How Do I Create Or Add New Items?
You have several ways to add a new item into your NoteMagician database. First, make sure that you have selected the folder into which you want a new item added by navigating to that folder in the Folder Pane. You can always move the item later if you place it in the wrong folder. Then you create your new item by doing one of the following:
- Select Items > New from the main menu bar. Choose the item type by selecting the plugin name which will create your new item
- Select Items from the main menu bar and choose the template name for the item type you want. The available template types will be the last grouping from that menu item
- Click the New Item button on the main NoteMagician Toolbar. This button is usually the left-most button on that bar. The icon on the left portion of that button is your current “default” item type, set in your NoteMagician Toolbar Preferences
- Click on the down arrow on the right half of the New Item toolbar button. This will drop down a list of the available item types based on the plugin names. Choose the item type you wish
- Right-Click on any topic or folder in the Folder Pane choose Item. You will then be presented with dialog allowing you to choose the type of item and which folder it will go into
Once you have selected your item type, the associated plugin will fill the Item Pane with a blank version of an item in the format that the plugin supports. Sometimes you will first be presented with a dialog to enter some information. The plugin will also create a default title (up to 255 characters) for the item that you will usually change to something more meaningful to you.
