NoteMagician Toolbar

Overview of the NoteMagician toolbar

The main NoteMagician toolbar provides direct, one-click mouse access to the most commonly used program options.  The items and order the items actually shown on the toolbar can be modified by changing user preferences (View > Preferences). Holding the mouse pointer over one of the icons for a few seconds will display a tooltip describing the action associated with the icon.

Toolbar icons that are specific to a given plugin will be shown on a second toolbar directly below the NoteMagician toolbar. The following table is a summary of basic toolbar icons, in order of their appearance in the default configuration for NoteMagician:

DESCRIPTION

New Item

This compound button is used when you want to create a new item. The main (left) button chooses the default item type (this can be changed in your user preferences). The right drop-down button will give you a choice of all the available item types for you new item. When you create a new item of a different type, the left button will change its icon, effectively changing the default “New Item” type.

Delete Item

Moves the selected item(s) to the Deleted Items folder.

Find

Allows for a search with very comprehensive user-specified parameters for the occurrence of a string within an item or group of items. The drop-down portion of this button allows you to select Find or Find Next.

Print

Using the default printer, this button prints the data in the currently selected pane. If the List Pane is selected, you will get a list of items in that folder. If the Item Pane is selected, you will get a formatted printout of the displayed item.

Reminder

Brings up the event / reminder screen with reminder information for the currently selected item.

Item View

Hides the List Pane and expands the Item Pane to fill the space vacated by the list.

List View

Reveal the List Pane, shrinking the Item Pane as needed.

Calendar View

Replaces the List Pane and Item Pane with an appointment calendar showing those items for which you have set an appointment time and checked the “Show in Calendar” box.

First Item

Select the first item in this folder.

Back one item

Change the selected item to be the first item which is higher in the List Pane.

Forward one item

Change the selected item to be the next item in the List Pane.

Last item

Select the last item in this folder.

Back one folder

Select the folder one higher in the Folder Pane.

Forward one folder

Select the folder one lower in the Folder Pane.

Back one topic

Select the topic one higher in the Folder Pane.

Forward one topic

Select the topic one lower in the Folder Pane.

One last note about toolbar icons: use the View menu to select the desired size of toolbar icons, large or small. This setting will affect the icon size for plugin toolbars as well.
